THE MOVEMENT

How to perform

  1. Set the cable so it stays loaded while you lie on the bench and hold the attachment above the shoulders.
  2. Keep the upper arms controlled as the elbows bend.
  3. Lower the attachment toward or slightly behind the head while maintaining cable tension.
  4. Extend the elbows smoothly to return to the start.

IRONYOU / CORE

Core cues

  • Keep the upper arms controlled while the elbows bend.
  • Lower the load to a comfortable point around or slightly behind the head.
  • Use a smooth lockout without letting the shoulders take over.

STAY SHARP

Common mistakes

  • Letting the elbows flare widely.
  • Turning the movement into a press by moving the upper arms too much.
  • Using a load that makes the bottom position unstable.
