THE MOVEMENT

How to perform

  1. Set the pulleys to match the chosen fly angle and take a stable split or square stance. Work one side at a time while keeping the torso from rotating.
  2. Brace the torso and set the shoulder in a stable position before starting the rep.
  3. Sweep the hands up and inward in a low-to-high arc while keeping a soft elbow bend.
  4. Open the arms slowly until you reach a comfortable chest stretch, then repeat.

IRONYOU / CORE

Core cues

  • Keep the torso or pelvis stable and match the range of motion between sides.
  • Move through a chest-focused range you can control without forcing the shoulders too far back.
  • Think about bringing the upper arms together rather than just moving the hands.

STAY SHARP

Common mistakes

  • Rotating or shifting the torso/pelvis to make the working side easier.
  • Going so deep that the shoulders lose a stable position.
  • Using momentum or too much load and turning the movement into a press.
