Hanging Knee Raise

The Hanging Knee Raise is a beginner bodyweight hanging core exercise that primarily trains the abs. It is useful for training the abs and hip flexors with a hanging leg-raise pattern.

THE MOVEMENT

How to perform

  1. Hang from the bar with the shoulders active and the body still.
  2. Brace the abs before lifting the legs.
  3. Raise the knees toward the chest without using a swing.
  4. Lower under control until the legs are straight and the body is stable again.

  • Start from a controlled hang and keep the shoulders active.
  • Raise the knees without swinging the whole body.
  • Curl the pelvis slightly at the top if you want more abdominal involvement.

  • Using a large swing to lift the knees.

  • Letting grip or shoulder position collapse before the set is finished.
