How to Progress With Dumbbells When Weight Jumps Are Too Big
Dumbbell progression can feel unfair.
You can do:
20 kg × 12
but the next pair is:
22.5 kg
and suddenly you can only get six or seven clean reps.
On a barbell, adding 2.5 kg might be a small change to the total load.
With dumbbells, the same increase happens to each hand.
That can turn a normal progression step into a much larger jump.
The solution is not to force the heavier dumbbells before you are ready.
